Inauguration

AKD Trade is a division of AKD Securities Ltd., the country's largest stock brokerage firm. AKD Trade was launched on the 1st of November, 2002 at a ceremony inaugurated by the Finance Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Shaukat Aziz. In addition to being the fastest way to trade stocks, AKD Trade also offers the safest way to trade because there is no human intervention in the entire order processing system.

On the 20th of May, 2003, AKD Trade reached yet another milestone when the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali conducted the first real-time online stock trade through the Internet, using the AKD Trade system.

Spread of Technology

Retail investors who previously had little or no access to the PSX now use AKD Trade to conduct all their stock trading activity from anywhere at any time. Retail investors previously could not have imagined investing their money in the Stock Markets of our country primarily due to inaccessibility to the common person. However, AKD Trade has made the dream of investing in Pakistan Capital Markets possible for thousands of local investors all around the globe. The Retail investor and the Capital Markets of Pakistan both benefit from AKD Trade. AKD Trade has served as a bridge for local retail investor by providing them easy access to the Capital Market and PSX by increasing the investor base which in turn increases the Market Capitalization in form of money injected by the local retail investor.

A Pioneering initiative

AKD Securities was determined to provide an unfettered, uninterrupted stock trading experience to retail investors. Converting the idea of online trading into reality was an immense challenge, given Pakistan's poor IT infrastructure and the lack of talented human resource. To make matters even more complex, there was no tested business model with established benchmarks of performance.

After immense hard work and a variety of contributions by individuals, AKD Trade, a functional, smooth stock trading business, powered by the Internet was born. A vibrant and dynamic company, AKD Trade remains at the cutting edge of technology and customer service, bringing to its customers a steady stream of innovations to improve the trading experience.

AKD Trade Announced

After introducing real-time transactions through the Internet, AKD Trade in collaboration with Ufone launched "Pocket Stocks" on June 17 th, 2003 at a ceremony held at the Pakistan Stock Exchange building from inside the Trading Hall. The Pocket Stocks ceremony was graced by the presence of The Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunications, Mr. Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari. Pocket Stocks is the first product of its kind and has been developed from the ground-up, entirely in Pakistan . It is the first application in the world that provides real time, updated stock market information to mobile phone users.

With Our vision to provide easy accessibility for the retail investor in the stock market, we kept on working and developed a complete trading application with live portfolio updates and trading facilities for cellular phones and tablet users, which was appreciated by a large number of retail investors who are continuously on the move or travelling.

In essence, AKD Trade has brought the Stock Market to the computer screen of the investor, enabling order placement at the Stock Exchange with utmost ease. In addition to broadening the investor base of the Pakistan Stock Exchange, this initiative has also helped in strengthening the capital markets of Pakistan. It is a huge step forward towards creating the right opportunities for investors to make investment decisions with convenience and towards building an investor-friendly environment in the country which was a dream in early 90’s.
